I work with imperfect materials. I find that painting on unique surfaces allows for the surface to play a more active role in the painting. In this way, I allow the material to have some agency over the outcome of the work.
Storytelling is a big part of my creative practice. I like to create works which have an escapist element. It is a personal challenge of mine to create work where the image and material used in my process work harmoniously to set a vivid scene, which is different from the here and now.
We don’t live in a perfect world, but sometimes the imperfections themselves are the most interesting and often the most overlooked parts. My work is simply a nod to the imperfect, and its power to stimulate the imagination.
